Chris was born and raised in the metropolitan city of Nanjing, China. She came to the United States just after her 18th birthday and went on to earn a B.S. in Food Science from Texas A&M University, an A.A.S. in Culinary Arts from the Art Institute of Houston, and a M.S. in Hospitality Management from Hilton College at University of Houston.
Her professional experience is equally as impressive having held positions in research and development at Kellogg’s USA, as well as in quality assurance at Spoetzl Brewery. She also trained at fine-dining restaurant Brennan’s of Houston and worked in Shanghai as a Chef de Cuisine at the Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
In May 2021, Chris joined Underbelly Hospitality as a consultant and in March 2022 became the company’s full-time Logistics Manager. Chris manages inventory and cost analysis, focusing on recipe standardization, portion control, and reconciling expense variances…. Yeah, all of it.
And if that wasn’t enough, you can also find her cooking in any of our Underbelly Hospitality restaurants when help is needed the most. Not to mention, Mrs Mr Chef Christmas Cai is a published author … we will NOT be sharing her email. You can’t have her.
