Tara MacMullen started her hospitality journey in, like, ALL the suburban chain restaurants. After moving to NYC to pursue acting, she discovered the joy of working for chef-owners. (We swear she said that. It isn’t sarcastic either!)
She realized hospitality and restaurants were her passion while working for Peter Hoffman at Back Forty and Savoy. She spent the next 7 years working for Momofuku as their Service Director – opening restaurants in NYC, Washington DC, and Las Vegas. For the next 7 years in NYC, she worked for some notable groups, ending her tenure in NYC with Cushman Concepts.
Tara moved to Houston in 2021 to work with Underbelly Hospitality as General Manager of UB Preserv. Since UBP’s closure at the end of 2021, she took the role of Director of Openings and Transitions for Underbelly Hospitality. What is that you ask? Well, her role is to go in and help change the tires of our Ferraris (restaurants) as they go down the freeway at 100mph. She helps get the train back on the tracks.
Her favorite past-time is poking fun at Jeff Buhrer.
Favorite spot for a shifty: Camarata (she’s fancy)
